Jacob Moore won Reserve Grand Champion Steer at the 2010 Indiana State 4-H Fair. Jacob is a 10 year member of the Delaware County 4-H. Jacob lives in Daleville, Indiana and graduated from Shenandoah High School in Middletown, Indiana. This is such an outstanding accomplishment for a 4-H’er. He has spent over 1000 hours on his beef project. Many people don’t realize the time that should be spent on an animal to get to this level. Jacob would get up before school and spend at least an hour and half feeding and preparing his steer for the day. After school he would start in the barn and only come up for dinner and go right back to the barn. He was determined to make his final year an outstanding year. Jacob also had sacrifices, as a senior in high school, when his friends were going to football, basketball and after game plans, Jacob was in the barn feeding, washing and drying his cattle or baling hay, moving cattle, etc. Jacob has no complaints, he feels that his senior year was the best and winning Reserve Grand Champion Steer at the 2010 Indiana State 4-H Fair was the final chapter of his high school career. Jacob was accepted to Purdue University this fall and he will live in the AGR Fraternity House (a farming background group of young men). Jacob plans on studying Agri-Business and continue to raise show cattle. As wonderful as all of this sounds, he has discovered that the Indiana State 4-H Fair Board requires each 4-H’er involved in the Sale of Champions on Saturday, August 14, 2010 to ask for donations. A minimum donation of $250.00 will allow your company to be recognized on a banner and announced during the ceremonies. All contributions under the $250.00 minimum will be placed in “Members of the Friends Group”. Jacob and his family thank you in advance for any consideration.
