We enjoy working with our bigger branded operations from around the country but the great thing about raising clubby influence steers and heifers is that no matter if you have 2 cows or 200 cows you can raise that next national champion with just 1 magical mating.
As we get older some of our proudest accomplishments from the last 15 years are 3 calves that descended from smaller family operations that went on to be champions at the United States largest shows and we’d like to share the background of those 3 calves that were all naturally bred and not embryo transfer calves.
In 2009 we bought a $13,000 gold colored Monopoly heifer out of a $600 sale barn cow that Brad Larson in Wessington Springs, South Dakota raised. This female went on to be Grand Champion Chi Heifer at the prestigious 2010 North American in Louisville for Troy Shaw.
In 2013 we got a cherry red Monopoly steer from Dan Snedden’s smaller 20 head herd in Ogden, Iowa that went on to be Grand Champion Market Steer @ 2015 National Western Stock Show for Shilo Schaake.
Most recently we purchased a black Unstoppable steer from Tucker Tibken’s smaller family operation in Wiota, Iowa in August 2016. This steer went on to be Reserve Grand Champion Market Steer at the 2018 National Western Stock Show for Tommy Glover in Denver, Colorado.
The point is whether you are a larger operation or smaller operation join MLC as we continue too pursue those once in a lifetime wins at the largest stock shows in America! The pursuit is at least half the fun! #BreedLautner
